Alberta Prairie's summer experiences are in full swing now and into October 2023. Included in these adventures are rail excursion on board a vintage passenger train lasting between two & one-half and three hours, and six hours, a full course cafeteria style meal at destination, entertainment, sightseeing and, with a few exceptions, a train robbery. These trips are great for adults travelling with or without children and families. The destinations for Alberta Prairie excursions are the Village of Big Valley or the Country Hideaway at Warden Junction. Warden at one time was a junction point between two railways - north south through Stettler and east west from west of Rocky Mountain House to Hanna.
Alberta Prairie is excited to be showing off it’s new and exciting destination, with its natural park setting, and lots of activities including hay rides, nature walks, inside and/or outside dining, robberies by the Pump Car Bandits, on-site live entertainment, children’s barrel train, old-time carnival games, and a railway junction switching yard.
The Village of Big Valley was the divisional point on the Canadian Northern Railway's mainline connecting Edmonton and Calgary and at onetime serviced as many as 40 trains a day and still boasts one of a very few Second Class stations or depot.
